What Does Trans Rectal Us Scan Reports Suggest?

my trans rectal us scan reads:

prostate gland size 46gm., a 19x15mm sized prominent nodule with cystic areas n the right anterorly,

multiple mixed echogenic nodules in the central and transitional zones.



Sir is there any cause of alarm? Help me with an explanation please!

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

You need to get your PSA levels tested. The prostate is moderately enlarged and you may be put on medications to treat benign prostate enlargement. Any infection of the urinary system including prostate also needs treatment. If there is urinary retention and inability to void bladder completely then discussing surgical treatment options with an urologist might help.
