What Does Twitching Sensation In The Right Thumb Indicate?

I have had twitching in my right thumb for over a year. It is particularly noticeable and aggravating when trying to polish nails. It really drives me nuts at night when my husband wants to hold my hand and we are trying to go to sleep. recently, month or so, have started getting sudden sharp pain at the base of either thumb just above wrists, lasts only a second. don t know if the symptoms are related. I do have osteoarthritis. Could this be causing it/ Was concerned when I heard that a twitching thumb could be an early sign of Parkinsons. My Father s brother had it. I am female, 65years old. Carol
