What Does Twitching Sensation On The Lower Lip Indicate?
Hi there, my mother had dental work done a little over a week ago on her right side and ever since she has been experiencing a twitching on her lower lip. She describes it as a strong twitch and pulling of the lip to the left side. Is this normal or should we be seeking help?
As per your query, you have symptoms of twitching sensation on the lower lip after the dental procedure which seems to be due to the effect of local anesthesia and it could be minor damage to peripheral nerve endings due to massive instrumentation.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you visit an oral and maxillofacial surgeon once and get a complete examination done again. Normally effect of anesthesia will go away in 5 to 6 hours. Apply ice cold pack on the affected area. Take muscle relaxant medicine and diet rich in vitamin B12.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
