What Does Uncontrolled Shaking After Stopping Steroid Intake Indicate?
My Husband is taking 5 Dexamethasone on Mondays. He takes a Chemo Pill along with this daily to help bring His numbers down. My simple question is when coming off of the steroids in the middle of the week ; can the Steroid cause shaking uncontrolable? It happens when 2 or 3 days being off of them.
Wearing off the steroids after a long time using them may put the patient in danger of steroid withdrawal which may be a serious condition. Shakiness may be due to electrolyte changes related to the lack of steroids while he is waning off. It is very important to very gradually tapper off, under the precise instruction and close monitoring of the doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General and Family Physician
