What Does Vaginal Bleeding After Having Sex Indicate?
I am 37 years old. I already have 4 children from a previous marriage. My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for just about 2 years now. Almost a year ago I miscarried. Recently, I had my period (as normal cycle) more than a week ago. We had sex around 2am this morning and when I woke up at 4am I was spotting with no pain. It was fresh blood, not dark at all. What could this mean?
Helllo there, thanks for the query. Bleeding that follows sex is called post coital bleeding and the reasons for the same could be cervical dysplasia and malignancies, polyp ( cervical or fibroid ), vaginal infections like trichomonas and candida ( but these can be symptomatic like itching and vaginal discharge ), sexually transmitted infections like gonorrhoea, chlamydia and some benign cervical pathology like erosion and ectropion ( like ulcers ). Whenever there is bleeding following sex, it is recommended that you get yourself examined to find out the cause. As the reasons could be many and they all manifest similarly clinical evaluation becomes all the more important distinguish between the causes and treat them appropriately however innocent it turns out to be. Do fix an appointment with your OB/ GYN for the same. Hope this information has helped you to an extent. Take care.
