What Does Vaginal Spotting After A Colonoscopy Indicate?

I had a colonoscopy with removal of 7 polyps 14 days ago. My bowels are returning to normal after some bloating and small movements for several days. This evening I noted small dark blood discharge on my underclothing and tissue which appear to come from my vagina. I am 76 years of age. Do I need to be concerned?

Hello,

I think it is not necessary for you to worry because it is small spotting if there is an injury to the vagina the time they did colonoscopy, then it will come off like that and nothing to worry much at all for now.

If it is increasing, then you need to get it tested by the gynecologist if there is any malignancy to the vagina. Since, you say polyps which can be benign or malignant also.

But if it is malignant then only you will have recurrent bleeding from vaginal part but not like this very small discharge. So, just not worry about it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Archana
