What Does Vaginal Spotting After A Pap Smear Test Indicate?

Hello, i am a young woman in my early 30s and I went for a Pap smear after a gal of 5 years. I am not sexually actively and have never had sex either. The doctor s exam hurt me quite a bit and I keep shifting back but got through the exam. Afterward, I noticed blood on the tissue when I visited the restroom, bright red, not like my period. This sighting continued almost all day, each time I visited the restroom, with some slight skin tissue pieces in the last urination What s going on? I ve done this before and not had bleeding, and does this mean that something is torn inside? I tried to call my Gynac but he was unavailable, pls help

Hello,

Slight bleeding after a paper smear is normal and happens because of the brush scraping around the cervix. But if the bleeding is directly related to the pap smear, then it should be in the form of spotting and resolves within a day. So I would advise you to wait for one day and observe if the bleeding stops. But if it does not resolve or increases, then it needs further evaluation by a gynecologist.
