What Does Vaginal Spotting While On Birth Control Pills Indicate?

I m 21 years old, female, have been on birth control pill for years, same kind, I recently changed my diet and exercise and a few days ago I noticed some spotting, I m still on the active pill and shouldn t get my cycle till next Tuesday, it has gotten consistently heavier to the point it s pretty much a full blown period. I took a pregnancy test and it was negative, we also used a comdom. What s wrong with my uterus? And I why am I in pain and on my period when I shouldn t be?

Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is not unusual for irregular bleeding to occur occasionally but if you persist in having irregular periods then this should be assessed by your doctor.

Periods are affected by a number of different factors including a change in diet and activity. Emotional stress or illness, other physical illness can also play a role as well.
There are other hormones such as the thyroid hormone that affect the period and would likely be assessed if you have repeat irregular periods.

For now, you can consider monitoring but if you remain concern, you can see your doctor.

I hope this helps
