What Does Warm Sensation From The Chest To The Head Indicate?
My son, age 48, works evening shift, 4-midnight in an office. He has been there for a year. In the last week when he goes to work he feels very warm from his chest up to his head and actually runs a fever. This lasts a few hours and then he returns to normal. The first day it happened he went home after a few hours and then felt better but issue returned the next evening. He likes his job and his co-workers.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It is very likely you son has fever during the times he feels hot and unwell. It is important to confirm this by measuring the temperature (oral or axillary in his case). If axillary temperature is 38 C or above is considered fever. Fever can happen with very common infections like viral infections that last a few days and the patient starts to feel better within a week. If your son has axillary fever 38 C or above for more than 4 days than he will need to see his doctor to examine him and find the reason for this (possibly other infections other that self limiting viral infections).
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Kind regards, Antoneta Zotaj, MD
