Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had a reoccurring condition in which I feel sudden areas of warmth on my lower legs (usually on the outside of my left calf) which has moved into my heel and arch on both feet. I am a teacher (for 25+ years) so am on my feet all day. Any thoughts as to what may be causing this strange sensation? It feels as if someone has poured very warm water on me or I ve stepped into a warm bath.
Here, I have read through your questions and would like to tell you that this type of warm sensation in the legs can be due to nerve compression at the spine or some localized nerve irritation. It can be an indication of a serious condition like disc prolapse. Since you are on your feet most of the time it is a major contributing factor. It needs to be assessed by a physician. He will do a thorough physical examination and also suggest an MRI. Meanwhile, you should ensure that when you are standing for long periods, that your you put equal weight on both legs.
I hope that answers your question. If you have any further questions, please feel free to write. Thank you for choosing healthcare magic.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Nazma.amman, General & Family Physician
