What Does Weight Gain During Menopause Indicate?

I have gained weight since post menopause at age 45 and have tried since then to exercise and eat healthy but no matter how hard I try I cannot seem to get below 155 lbs for 5 5 tall. I am running, working out with weights. I do sit a lot since I am a therapist. Before menopause I could eat whatever I wanted and ran and kept my weight down easily. I am beginning to wonder if I really need hormone replacement because I really feel too heavy.

Hello,

The hormonal changes of menopause might make you more likely to gain weight around your abdomen than around your hips and thighs. But, hormonal changes alone don't necessarily cause menopause weight gain. Instead, the weight gain is usually related to aging, as well as lifestyle and genetic factors. If you have tried with healthy food and lifestyle you should check the function of thyroid gland may by you have a low function of thyroid gland that makes you gain weight.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
