Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does White Spots On Ovaries In An Ultrasound Indicate?
I had an ultrasound today as the doctor thought I might polycystic ovaries. The nurse said they were white spots on the ovaries but didn t give me any explanations. I haven t had a period in 7 months after coming off the pill in December. Should I be concerned?
PCOD, or Polycystic Ovary Disease, is a kind of hormonal disorder that affects one in 10 women. It refers to a condition when a woman has a number of small cysts in the ovaries. Besides, unpredictable hormonal behaviour, this condition can trigger diabetes, infertility, acne and excessive hair growth. The white spots that you see on ultrasound represent hair within the ovarian cyst. There are chances that you might have PCOD but it is a very much treatable disease and I would suggest you get in touch with your concerned doctor about this.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
