What Does White, Thick Extra Growth On Tongue Suggest?

hello, have something growing on my tongue. at first I thought it was a tiny piece of lose skin but when I tried to pull it off it hurt. it I white and thicker at the root of it than the end. what is it called? what could it be and is it something to be concerned about?

Hello and thanks for writing...

You are having a growth called leukoplakia. It occurs at the site mentioned by you. It is caused due to tobacco or areca nut intake which is its most common cause.

If this is the case I strongly suggest that you quit tobacco as soon as possible. It is not a good thing to have as it may put you at a higher risk for getting a cancer.
