What Does Yellow Discharge From The Ears Indicate?
Hi, My son is almost 6 years old we were seen in his pediatric office on Friday he is still having a lot of yellow drainage come out of his ear, however as of Friday the tubes were still in his ears. Well just a little bit ago a big giant stringy mucous snotty mass came out of his ear and now more stringy stuff is coming out of his ear is this normal or should I be concerned. He’s been on eardrops and amoxicillin since Friday
hi mam/sir,it seems your son is suffering from acute suppurative otitis media.let me make you clear that it takes a minimum of 10 days with treatment for the infection to subside.clinical improvement takes atleast 48-72hrs to appear i.e;from then the discharge starts coming down and kid feels better.as there may be large amouts of pus and mucoid discharge due to bacterial infection, draining out is a good thing actually.good pain relief with either ibuprofen or acetaminophen combination is recommended.so,just wait for 1 more day.if the pain, fever dont come down or intensity of symptoms increases, you can see the pediatrician.i wish your kid gets well soon.any other clarifications from my side, please let me know.thank you.take care.bye.
