Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does Yellow Nasal Discharge While Suffering From An Epidural Abscess Indicate?
I had a severe epidural abscess 6 years ago. The Nuero Surgeon told me after my surgery and 15 days in the hospital and 6 weeks of IV antibiotics in a pic line I would have to have my spine fused within two years. My internal medicine doctor said as long as I did not have excruciating pain we would not go forth with the surgery yesterday and today every time I bend over I noticed the yellow fluid coming out of my nose and hip had numbness in my legs I’m wondering if this is related and what could possibly be happening to me
As per your clinical history, please follow like this:
1) Do a clinical examination by your Doctor [Neuro] and do an MRI scan to know the exact cause.
2) If no neurological findings then discuss with your Doctor about preventive antibiotics like [Cextriaxone] in IV and consult with your physiotherapist for a specific exercise plan.
Do follow lifestyle modifications like this:
1) Do exercise regularly. This is the most important thing you can do for your overall health as well as for your back. Pay special attention to your core muscles the muscles in your abdomen and lower back that are essential for proper posture and alignment. Ask your doctor to recommend specific activities.
2) Try to maintain proper posture when you sit. Choose a seat with good lower back support, arm rests and a swivel base. Consider placing a pillow or rolled towel in the small of your back to maintain its normal curve. Keep your knees and hips level.
3) Try to use good body mechanics. If you stand for long periods, rest one foot on a stool or small box from time to time. When you lift something heavy, let your lower extremities do the work. Move straight up and down. Keep your back straight and bend only at the knees. Hold the load close to your body. Avoid lifting and twisting simultaneously. Find a lifting partner if the object is heavy or awkward.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
