Dear Doctor, Hope this text finds you well. I am worried about some irregularities in my vagina in the last 2-3 weeks after engaging in unprotected intercourse with a man. I noticed a thick yellowish-green discharge, itching, burning while urinating and 2 sores inside the inner labia. I consulted an OB-GYN in person and she suggested a Culture and Sensitivity test with the vaginal swab. I am a 30-year old female. I have had irregular periods since childhood and I have a mild case of PCOS. Here is the result of the Culture and Sensitivity test of the vaginal swab: Gram positive cocci in pairs and chains seen and gram positive budding yeast cells seen. Organism Isolated: (a) Group B Streptococci obtained after 36 hours of aerobic incubation - scanty growth. (b) Moderate growth of Candida Albicans obtained after 36 hours of aerobic incubation. ANTIBIOTIC SENSITIVITY 1) Ceftriaxone - Sensitive 2) Ampicillin - Sensitive 3) Amoxycillin - Sensitive 4) Pencillin G - Sensitive 5) Amox with Clav Acid - Sensitive 6) Clindamycin - Resistant 7) Erythromycin - Moderately Sensitive 8) Levofloxacin - Sensitive 9) Co-trimoxazole - Sensitive 10) Azithromycin - Moderately Sensitive 11) Cefixime - Sensitive I am worried about contracting an STD. I have been taking measures, drinking a lot of water, abstaining from any sexual activity. It s been 3 weeks now. The symptoms have reduced but not gone and I m worried. Advice/guidance from you would be highly appreciated. Thank you, Sonia.
