What Dosage Of Motrin Is Advisable For Chronic Pain?
I was prescribed oxycodone after tooth extraction. I prefer not to take oxycodone or hydrocodone because they are horrible for me. I purchased OTC Motrin and took 800 mg (4 tablets), which was very effective. Now I am feeling more pain after 5 hours. How frequently can I safely take 800 mg of Motrin? I can imagine that the pain will be significantly less on tomorrow.
Persistent or severe pain can be debilitating to anyone so it is very understandable that you wish for relief.
The maximum daily dose normally is 1200 mg but in cases of severe pain , some persons use up to 3200 mg a day. This higher maximum doses is often used in persons with a history of osteoarthritis , rheumatoid arthritis or inflammatory diseases.
If the high doses help you then you can use it temporarily. You should make sure that you use will a full stomach to prevent irritation or use reflux medications such as protonix, prevacid, prilosec, aciphex etc
I hope this helps
