What Dosage Of Oxycodone Should Be Taken For Pain Management?

My Oxycodone/Acetaminophen 7.5/325 prescription directs dosage of 1 tablet every 12 hours as needed for pain, however, I have read the dosing to be 1 tablet every 6 hours as needed for pain so I m wondering if the pharmacy made an error on the label.

Hi,

Dosage depends upon the type of formulation prescribed. The usual adult dose of immediate released formulation of oxycodone 7.5 mg/acetaminophen 300 or 325 mg: 1 tablet orally every 6 hours as needed for pain with the maximum dose of 8 tablets in 24 hours.

Whereas for extended release (ER) the usual adult dose is 2 tablets orally every 12 hours (each ER tablet contains oxycodone 7.5 mg / acetaminophen 325 mg). The second dose may be administered as early as 8 hours after initial dose if needed however, subsequent doses should be administered every 12 hours.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
