What Dosage Of Asthalin Respules Should Be Used For Cough In A Toddler?
Sir, My grandson aged 3 years is suffering from cough and nasal discharge quite often. His mother is an asthmatic. He has been advised to take nebulisation using respirator solution(asthalin) respules. Nebulisation with this medicine is given at my residence by own nebuliser. Sir my request is :- a) what is the actual dosage of this medicine per take. b) Can we add normal saline in the nebuliser? if yes what is the dosage. thank you sir
AsthalinRespirator Solution 0.5 ml (2.5 mg of salbutamol) should be diluted to a final volume of 2 ml with sterile normal saline. This may be increased to 1 ml, diluted to a final volume of 2.5 ml. The resulting solution is inhaled from a suitably driven nebulizer until aerosol generation ceases.
Do not overfill the cup, as the air flow through the solution may then not be strong enough to create a mist. Only use the saline solution that you have been prescribed.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
