My seven year old granddaughter swallowed a quarter while with her mother. She came back to my son s house today after visitation with mom. My granddaughter has eaten all day and has not shown any problems. My son plans to call the doctor tomorrow. Will she be able to pass a coin this size?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Praveen's Response
Hi dear. Thanks for writing on HCM. Since your child doesnot have any breathing problem after swallowing it should have gone into his GI(stomach). The coin shall be flushed in stools within a day or 2.I were to wait and watch since this does not require medical intervention most often.
