My son is a type 1 Diabetic, he developed a hangnail on Thursday it really did not start bothering him until Sunday, by 10:00 pm he didnt feel well and the finger was very red and soar. Gave him some acetaminophen, he got up a few times not able to sleep, so finally at 3:00 am we checked on him and his finger looked scary, very swellen red and kinda blue, went to ER gave him Cephalexin 500 mg

He will respond to antibiotics and get well soon. To avoid this kind of infections well controlled diabetes and proper nail care is important. take advice of podiatrist for nail care in diabetes.
