What Indicates A Redness, Swelling And Tight Feeling In Thumb After A Cut Due To Tin Can Lid?

Yesterday morning I cut my thumb on a tin can lid. Cleaned it an bandaged it. 18 hours later I woke up to pain as the other side of my thumb was throbbing. The front of my thumb is red, swollen, and tight now (the cut is on the back). Could it be a allergic reaction to the bandaid adhesive or could it be something more serious?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
From history it seems that there might be having infection on the part giving rise to cellulitis, swelling and pain.
Clean the wound with antiseptic lotion and dress it with antibiotic cream.
Go for one antibiotic medicine course for 3-5 days.
Ok and take care.
