Hi. I have struggled with some unknown infection for the past 2-3 years (perhaps longer). First obvious symptom was a sudden bald spot on my thick head of hair 3 years ago. Topical steroid injection applied, but then things went bad to worse. 4-5 months later has symptoms of meningitis with severe headaches, stiff neck and upper spine, low grade fever, constant flu-like body aches, swollen lymph nodes in head and neck. Within the next several months the symptoms worsened to burning itching crawling feeling under my skin that spread throughout legs and feet and swollen lymph nodes especially in feet and tops of toes. Several doctors...several different opinions. One finally ran a Western blot Lyme test which came back positive for several bands. Antibiotic rotations for the next 18 months along with a round of anti-parasitics (Alinia). Lots of herbals and naturopathic remedies trialed, too. Chronic fatigue set in and generalized deconditioning becasue increasing my activity (and aerobic activities) seemed to worsen symptoms. I am better than I was initially and have been able to return to work full time (had to work less than 1/2 time for 18 months). Symptoms that persist include: crawling under skin (worse during full moon cycles and when I consume sugar or alcohol), swollen lymph nodes, and wasting of flesh/fat tissue in hands and feet, and an occasion severe headache. Got any ideas? What is your opinion on Chronic Lyme? I m still not convinced due to the CDC position and lack of good evidence or lab values. But there is definitely something going on that I can t seem to fully recover from.
