What Is Dextromethorphan Used For?

I have been given a bottle of ambroxol dextrometorfano. I have had a sever cold with much mucus for 7 days. I understand what ambroxol is however do not understand dextrometorfano. What is it, and how much of this medication should I be taking and how often

Ambroxol and Dextromethorphan are the ingredients which are present in formulas to treat cough and cold.
Ambroxol has mucolytic and mucokinetic action, which helps to liquefy mucous and promotes its expulsion.
Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant. It affects the signals in the brain that trigger cough reflex. It also has mild sedative effect.
Adult dose that needs to be taken is 5ml twice or thrice a day.
