My husband is having a back pain. We have gone through some tests (CRP,ESR, RA factor ,uric acid and HLA-B27, cytometry. Got report of some only one which is HLA-B27 is remaining. XRAY and MRI is normal. Could you please let me know what is HLA-B27 test and why it is suggested? is there any chances of cancer? Below are the current report details: ESR : 30mm CRP: 20.80 ra factot: >10 uric acid : 7.30 HLA-B27: report awaiting
Your husband's findings may suggests raised ESR,uric acid and CRP level. Raised ESR and CRP may indicate infection/inflammation in the body. It need clinical correlation and it may be due to arthritis.
HLA-B27 estimation is also related to arthritis and it is a blood test for a protein that is found on the surface of WBC. Positive HLA-B27 may be present in ankylosing spondylitis,psoriatic arthritis,reactive arthritis etc. Your husband may need specific medicines for arthritis after clinical estimation.
Findings are not related to cancer.Don't worry about this.
