Inj. Hucog (
Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) is given weekly to prevent
miscarriage in women who are prone to miscarriage or having risk factors for miscarriage in the form of spotting.
It supports the
pregnancy in the form of better placental attachment & healthy growth of fetus and thus prevents the chances of miscarriage or spotting.
Generally it is safe to take during pregnancy hence prescribed by your doctor. However, it can cause allergic reactions, headache, edema or weight gain, and mood swings. If she develops these side effects you must consult her treating gynecologist.
Besides she must have the following nutritional supplements that are needed for healthy baby like:
Iron &
folic acid supplements
A high protein diet-meat, poultry, fish, or pulses.
A high calcium intake- like milk, milk products, eggs, etc
A high fiber rich fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables
Avoid foods which are not easily digestible such as fatty foods
Have six small meals instead of 3 large meals
Drink plenty of fluids
Go for regular brisk walks for 30 to 40 minutes daily.
