Hello I just moved my mother into assisted living we had to get all new prescription issued for her she noticed an extra pill they were giving her she was not used to taking it is isomorphic mononitrate she regularly takes Eliquis and Metoprolol tartrate what is the new med for?

Isosorbide mononitrate belongs to the group of medicines called nitrates. It works by relaxing the blood vessels and increasing the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart while reducing its workload.

It is used to prevent chest pain (angina) in patients with coronary artery disease. So, let her continue taking it along with blood thinner Eliquis and cardioselective beta blocker Metoprolol tartrate as prescribed by her doctor.
