What is LAX cardia what ll happen due to LAX cardia and what are the solution of it or any medicine to be used as my wife is badly suffering by continuous vomiting since one month.. C is having ANC of 2month and suffered by hyperemesis.. Kindly advise me on the said problem..
'Lax cardia' or hiatus hernia is said to occur a portion of the stomach moves through the diaphragmatic opening into the chest. Normally it remains in the abdomen. There are certain conditions which predispose to 'lax cardia' like muscle weakening and loss of elasticity with age, obesity, abdominal ascites (accumulation of fluid) and pregnancy. Surgery is the only effective way to fix a 'lax cardia'. However, it is not during pregnancy, unless it is imposing a risk to the growing baby. Otherwise, it should be delayed until after birth. Since she has been continuously vomiting since one month ('hypermesis') which occurs due to hormonal imbalance in the first trimester of the pregnancy, she should consult an obstetritian for proper clinical assessment. The doctor might advise her intravenous fluid and certain safe anti-emetic medicines to control her hyperemesis.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
