Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Dear patient
First we have to understand the anatomy of vertebra. Anterior it has body posterior is lamina and spinout process. Laterally is Pedicle and articular processes. Part connecting pedicle and lamina is Pars interarticularis. Now your grand daughter has got defect in Pars interarticularis means fracture in it. This may be due to trauma or congenital. Treatment is rest for 4 weeks and lumbar corset belt. If her pain is not relieved by rest surgery may be required.
