Hi doctor, I am in 19th week now. My doctor advised me to go for TIFFA scan next week. I would like to know what is this scan all about. I have done a scan last month and everything was fine. We could see the baby's spinal cord, eyes, ears, hands and legs. I would like to know in depth regarding TIFFA.
TIFFA is Targetted Imaging for Fetal Anomalies. It gives a comprehensive evaluation of the growing fetus for possible developmental problems seen structurally. It gives information of various organ systems like head, brain and spinal cord, heart and lungs, hands and feet, face and lips, stomach and intestine, liver and abdominal wall.
Since the scan targets the evaluation of all the important structures in detail it is called as targetted scan.
