Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your situation and problem.
Following are the possible causes for lung nodule.
1. Benign cyst
2. Fibrotic or calcified spot
3. Initial stage of infectuve granuloma
4. Very early lung cancer.
If you are smoker then possibility of malignant nodule is high.
In 8 mm nodule we can not do biopsy or any other diagnostic test.
The only option is to wait and watch. Get done repeat CT thorax after 6 months to know whether nodule is static or decreasing or increasing in size.
And if you are smoker then quit smoking as soon as possible.
