Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Is A Brown Mole Above The Ear With Flaking Skin Suggestive Of?
I have a brown colored mole above my ear.. I ve had it for a few years and it has recently started flaking and tends to get oily easily. Is this a worry or something wrong? The falking looks like flaking skin. Sometimes depending on which part of the mole it comes from can be a light ran color. Concerns?
Without seeing it I can't say specifically, but an oily brown spot can be sebhoreic keratosis, which is a benign type of mole.
However, as it is flaking and has changed, it does warrant going in to have it looked at in person, as it may be actinic keratosis (which can be removed with liquid nitrogen) or a basal cell cancer.
So do go have it looked at.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Bonnie Berger-Durnbaugh, General & Family Physician
