Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What is a Condem Catheter and how to collect urine in a bag and later discard it. I have been incontinent since my urethral spinchter was removed by Urologist at University of Pennsylvania Hospital. I wear a brief but my scrotum is burning too much. The cream or otc zinc cream also does not work. I need a comfortable exrtercal Condom Catheter that does not slip pot and collects unrine in a bag for disposal. My email is YYYY@YYYY
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. A condom catheter is an external catheter used for collecting urine. Unlike other urinary catheters, a condom catheter is not inserted into the urethra. Instead, a special condom is attached to a catheter to keep the catheter in place and to collect urine. The condom catheter needs to be worn just like condom over the penis, the condom sheath is worn over the penis and it is made to stay in place by use of an adhesive. At the other end, it has a opening with a pipe like projection, which needs to be connected to urinary bag to collect urine sample. The condom catheter is used only for short periods of time. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best and wish you good health. Regards, Dr.Ashakiran.S. MBBS., MD.
