What Is A Hard Lump Under The Sternum Suggestive Of?

Hello. My husband has a very hard round lump under his sternum. He says he does not have any pain there but it is tender if you push on it. The lump seems sort of square-like when you push down on the edge of it. He has not had any heartburn or anything like that.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms of your husband seem to be related to a hiatal hernia. A hiatal hernia occurs when part of the stomach bulges into the chest. The treatment consists of surgery. Meanwhile, he can take antacids.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
