What Is A Hole Between The Toes With Soreness Suggestive Of?
I have a hole between my pinky toe and fourth toe for about two weeks now. I am going to my podiatrist on Friday, but my pinky toe itself is very sore. I take enbrel for RA and have held off for two weeks because I m afraid this is an infection. I keep it clean, soak my foot in Epsom salts, and use betadine and neosporin twice a day. I also had surgery in July to shave a bone at the base of my pinky toe, but this doesn t seem related. Should I push to be seen sooner?
It is an infection based on your description. It would likely be a sinus which is a small hole or connection in the skin.
You were right to discontinue the immune suppressant medication because it would affect healing of any infection. This should be done after consultation with your doctor.
With the fact that the symptoms have been ongoing for 2 weeks and the presence of pain, it would be best for you to be seen as soon as possible for treatment to be started.
I hope this helps
