What Is A Painful Lump On The Base Of The Skull Suggestive Of?

Yesterday I noticed a lump, about the size of a walnut, on the base of my skull behind my right ear. It s extremely painful & isn t mobile. There s nothing to make me think it s a pimple or infected hair folicle. Naturally, I am quite curious & concerned as to what it might be. Any thoughts? Thank you, kindly.
