Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Is A Palpable Mass On The Tailbone Suggestive Of?
I have a palpable mass on my sacrum/tailbone. Lower than the cleft and above the anus. It is hard and very painful. No redness, heat or drainage. I am a 26 y/o female and I do have lower back hx with herniations and sciatica.. Wondering if its a cyst or a chordoma.
It could be a cyst or oateoma. A long-standing abscess can also show a similar clinical picture. Consult a physician and get evaluated. An ultrasound can be considered as preliminary investigations.
A fine needle may be required in case of diagnostic confusion.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
