What Is A Puss Filled, Painful Hard Spot Along The Waistline Indicative Of?

As an overweight man, I have sretchmarks on some parts of my body, including my waistline. A boil-like hard spot formed along my waistline that became tender and painful. When I tried to pop it, there was only a little puss and then some blood, but the hole was bigger than I expected and has not closed after two days. I have been putting a bandaid over it to make sure that it does not get foreign debris into it, but how concerned should I be? Should it be scabbing, or undergoing some other process to close?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
This sounds like an infected sebaceous cyst that you were able to drain of the pus.

The hole will close in time but it may take a couple of weeks
