What Is A Red And Swollen Sore On The Forehead?
got a sore on forehead that swells up and is red, always got one in summer time, now have one in winter, always thought it occurred after being outside working in yard on hot humid day always was treated with antibiotics, a medical cream (mupirocin ointment USP, 2%). What is this and why does it keep coming back?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
A red swelling on the forehead could be due to infection r inflammation.
This could be due to a boil, folliculitis, furunculitis or any other infection / inflammation of the skin.
However, a clinical examination is needed to look for the evidence of infection.
Antibiotic needs to be used if it turns out to be an infection.
Mupirocin is an antibiotic ointment.
Since there is recurrence of the infectious lesion, the antibiotic may have to be replaced by another antibiotic.
