What Is A Small Fibroid In Uterus Suggestive Of?

Hello, I have been having symptoms of ovarian cancer. They did a vaginal ultrasound and fid find s small fibroid in the top part of my uterus. But they could not see the ovaries do to gas, but said no free fluid and no masses seen. I went to my doctor and she still is not ruling out ovarian cancer. I am scheduled next Monday for a pelvic cat scan. I am worried a lot. Since no masses were seen, and the ovaries were not seen, wouldn t you still be able to see s mass on my ovaries through the gas? And the tech seemed to think he had really good pictures. I am very concerned. I am bloated, have to urinate all the time, having a lot of diarhrea I gave discomfort right under my stomach in the pelvic region. I would like your opinion Thank you.

Hi,

Ultrasound is a preliminary test and cannot detect all lesions. Small fibroids do not cause any problems and do not need any treatment also.

If you are suspecting the ovarian disease, you can opt for an MRI scan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
