What Is A Sudden And Severe Swelling In The Leg Suggestive Of?

SUDDEN, QUITE SEVERE SWELLING (LEG): My left LEG from the knee down to (including) my toes began to swell yesterday (Thurs 12/9/16) around noon and by 6:30 pm when I got home I could barely roll my tights (heavy nylons) to take them off. My right ankle and foot is also swollen and tight, but the calf is not swelling.
