Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am looking for an alternative to amldipine. I have had two angioedema episodes on lisinopril and am not interested in returning to that family of options. The 10mg amlodipine has had the noted side effect of increased heart rate and metoprolol has been added (12.5 mg 2x/day) . My resting heart rate is seldom below low 80s and yet my 5-6 day/week workout includes cardio/weight regimens that keep my workout rate at or above my target (67 year old male) for 45m- 60m per workout. My resting rate should be no more than low 70s or lower when truly resting. My workout rate has decreased significantly on metoprolol (2 weeks) but that is not my concern. What is my best option for bp med that either includes a metoprolol effect or doesn t generate the side effect of the accelerated/sometimes pronounced/pounding heart rate? heart rate
