Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I am asking this question for my 26 year old son. He woke up with a very swollen uvula. He hasn t been exposed to anything new, and it doesn t appear to be strep, but it is causing him much discomfort and I m concerned. He also doesn t have a fever.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you son have symptoms of extremely swollen uvula which are actually lymph nodes in neck which are draining tonsils and it could be due to sore throat.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to give child steam inhalation. Avoid giving cold carbonated beverages and sharp and spicy food. Do warm saline gargles several times a day especially before going to bed and you should consult paediatrician once and doctor may order blood test to find out the exact cause. Doctor may prescribe antibiotic course for around week and antihistamine drug. Give child proper rest.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
