Pain Medicine & Palliative Care Specialist 's  Response
Hi,
An ankle arthroscopy is usually carried out under general anesthesia. The post operative pain is well controlled with oral pain killers which may include paracetamol and non-steroidal anti-inflammatories such as ibuprofen. Codeine may be needed in the first 24 hours.

No most likely you will be under general anesthesia, but you can request for a local or spinal anesthetic and be awake. There may be some pain after the arthroscopy is done.
