What Is Causing Difficulty In Breathing With Tightening Of The Chest?

I m 43 years old. I have diabetes 2 and blood pressure of 167 over 105. At least once an hour it s hard to breath and chest feels like (almost a haunting feeling) a gas pain right in the middle. I had stopped taking medication because I can t afford it. What can you tell me besides see a doctor?

Do you have this pain soon after consuming meals? If yes, then it could be gas which causes a bloating sensation and pain in the chest. Avoid eating too much at a time. Have small meals with controlled portions of food and eat light. Avoid heavy meals with rich gravies, fried and oily foods. If the chest pain occurs alongwith breathlessness, then you must consult a doctor.

You must try to manage your diabetes effectively by controlling your diet and increasing physical activity. If you can afford then, using a glucometer to monitor blood glucose levels will be of great help. Recording blood glucose levels before and after meals helps you to make changes in your diet with the help of a qualified dietitian. Cut down on your salt intake to not more than 5 gm/day (one levelled tsp). Sprinkle some salt only after cooking foods without salt. It will give more flavour. High salt intake increases blood pressure which can harm your body especially eyes, heart and kidneys.

Hope this answers your query satisfactorily.

Hello welcome to HCM.
I have read your question and understand your concerns.
Tightness in the chest and unable to breath properly looks like intolerance to diabetes medicines but you should do ecg at least to rule out that you don't have any heart issues.

DON'T STOP YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE AND DIABETES MEDICINES. You can take medicines in any municipal hospital or charitable hospital free of charge or at a cheap rate.

The symptoms you felt is looks like intolerance to medicines which you can easily control by Taking acidity medicines along with that. I can't prescribed you online, you need a written prescription for that.

Your current blood pressure is high enough to consult your doctor to readjust your diabetes and hypertension dosage.

You should go for FBS, PP2BS AND HBA1c report every 3 monthly ideally for adequate sugar control even if you have no symptoms.
Thank you.
Have a nice day.
