What Is Causing Elevated Level Of Calsitonin Even After Thyrodectomy?
Dear Sirs, My wife is diagnoised for Medullary Thyroid Carcinoma. Total thyrodectomy is done for her. After surgery, for 18 months the Calcitonin levels were around the normal range, but recently it has raised to 27. I am very much worried. Can you advice please ?

You have not mentioned the dosage of compensatory medicines your wife is having now. There are two possibility; > Even after Total Thyroidectomy there will be the presence of residual thyroid tissues along with parathyroid gland. > Adrenal gland may not be functioning correctly. Diagnosis can be conformed only after taking blood analysis.
Thanks
