What Is Difference Between Tramadol And Motrin In Controlling Pain?
I have been given tramadol in place of motrin for pre op pain control. What is the difference in pain control? I know discontinuing motrin is for bleeding during surgery. I seem to get a buzz effect from the ultram that I don t get from motrin. Does ultram affect a different area?
Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns. Motrin (Ibuprofen) is NSAID (Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug)which may cause an increased risk of serious cardiovascular thrombotic events, myocardial infarction, and stroke, which can be fatal.MOTRIN (ibuprofen) tablets are contraindicated for treatment of peri-operative pain in the setting of coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery. Ultram (tramadol) is a narcotic-like pain reliever used to treat moderate to severe pain. It has two different mechanisms. First, it binds to the μ-opioid receptor. Second, it inhibits the reuptake of serotonin and norepinephrine. Tramadol can have CNS (central nervous system) side effect like dizziness.
