What Is Done During Lateral Sphincterotomy Surgery , Anal Dilation And Is It Painful ?

Hi, I have been suffering anal fissure from 3 months and all medicines have failed. Now, doctors have told me that I should go for the Lateral Sphincterotomy Surgery and Anal Dialation. I would like to know what actually is done in the procedure and if it is painful or not. Thank you.

hi,thanks for query.There is no need to worry,under anesthesia the narrow part is dilated and the fibrous part which has contracted is cut and left.No sutures are taken and post operative pain is very less.Do not worry,please go for surgery as advised.
