Gout is a inflammatory disease in which there is increase in uric acid in body that starts accumulating in different tissues of body and produce symptoms.starting from the big toe ist which will be tender red and hot.
taking a diet which is high in meat and seafood and beverages sweetened with fruit sugar (fructose) increases levels of uric acid and gout. Alcohol also increases the gout risk.Obesity, family history of gout, medications like thiazide diuretics used to treat
hypertension,low dose
aspirin, male gender and age between 30 to 50 are also risk factors.High levels of uric acid in blood, xray of the joint, fluid cytology of the joint and
ultrasound of the joint may also reveal urate acid crystals.
But the good thing is it is controllable and treatable with medications like NSAIDS for pain,
Corticosteroids for inflammation and
colchicine for reducing levels of uric acid in blood. And i would strongly recommend you to get the tests done ist and refer to your physician for starting treatment.
I hope this was helpful
