What Is Hysteroscopy Done For Endometrial Hyperplasia?
I am waiting to be referred to gynaecology as I have 8.5mm thickening of the lining of my womb. I am in the menopause for 2.5 years. I had a bleed on the 6 June. I was due to have a hystercopy under general anaesthetic but had to cancel 2x as I had a heavy cold it lasted 6 weeks. My GP is no referring me . But for some reason no one was forthcoming when I ask questions as to why a hystercopy is needed. My GP has not said much about it neither
Hysteroscopy is a imaging technique which is used an endoscope to directly look at the inner surface of the uterus. It helps to directly visualise any obvious defect and deformity in the inner surface of uterus. As you have mentioned your uterus' inner lining has thickened so your physician must be wanting to look the lining of the inner surface of the uterus.
Hysteroscopy also helps to take tissue samples if required for further study.
It is a painful procedure, hence mostly it is done with general anaesthesia, though for a few patients it may be done using sedatives.
Let's hope you get well soon.
Hope you find the information pertinent to your query.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask.
